Work at Breathe

You already know what most group practices are like. A productivity number you have to hit. An EMR that fights you. A supervisor who signs your hours and can't remember your caseload. Someone above you deciding how many sessions a week you owe, and then a note template that assumes you did the same thing every time.

We built this one on purpose to not be that.

What's actually different here

You're not managed. Nobody is going to tell you how to do therapy. You're a clinician, we hire people we trust, and if you want to do EMDR through movement or take a session outside or sit in silence for forty minutes because that's what the client needs, that's your call. We'll talk about it in supervision if it's interesting. We won't audit you for it.

The software doesn't fight you. We built our own. Scheduling, notes, billing, eligibility, telehealth, all one system, because every off-the-shelf option we tried was built for billing departments instead of clinicians. Your notes take the time they take, not twice that because the form is stupid. If something in it is broken or annoying, tell us and it usually gets fixed that week, because the person who wrote it works here.

We don't chase clients out the door or keep them past useful. No quota. We check progress out loud with clients and end when the work's done.

Our values are in our policies, not on a poster. When someone's Medicaid lapses, we don't bill them and we don't drop them — we have a case manager who walks them through reinstating it and they keep their therapist. That costs us money. We do it anyway. That's the kind of place this is.

We're real people and we don't perform. There's a robot vacuum stuck in a doorway and an office that's still half-painted. Nobody here is going to ask you to be a polished version of yourself in front of clients. Clients can tell, and so can we.

If you're pre-licensed

Most of our team is. This is one of the few practices around that's genuinely built for people accruing hours instead of tolerating them.

You get real supervision from a licensed supervisor who knows your caseload, not a signature at the end of the month. You get hard cases with support, not just the easy intakes nobody else wanted. You get to ask the dumb question. Your supervisor will tell you when they don't know either.

We'll be straight about the trade: we're fee-for-service, so your income moves with your caseload. That's more upside than a salaried intern position and more variability. We'll tell you honestly what a full caseload looks like here before you sign anything.

If you're licensed

Bring your own way of working. We're not going to hand you a model and tell you to run it. What we offer is a full caseload if you want one, insurance credentialing handled, no admin drag, and colleagues who'll actually consult with you instead of nodding.

Who does well here

People who can go where it's dark. Who don't flinch. Who can say "I was wrong about that" in front of a client and mean it. Who'd rather be useful than impressive.

People who want autonomy and can carry it. Nobody's checking your work. That's freedom and it's also responsibility, and it doesn't suit everyone.

Who doesn't

If you need a rigid structure handed to you, or you want to be told exactly what model to use for every presentation, or you're uncomfortable working with Medicaid clients and the complexity that comes with them, this probably isn't your place. That's not a knock — it's just not what we are.
